I always liked to see movie stars photos from the golden era or from the silver screen era like Marlene Dietrich, Jean Harlow, Hedy Lamar, Mae West and other vamps. Of course I noticed male stars like Gary Cooper, Marlon Brando, Rock Hudson and so many others who become models to  my own creations.

So Cary Grant is a special case. Because he is so classy, sophisticated and fun at same time. He is definitely the male model in my modest opinion... When an interviewer once told him, "Everyone would like to be Cary Grant," he replied, "I'd like to be Cary Grant, too."

And to full fill my imagination and fantasies, like some of many others who admired him, there is the photo session with Randolph Scott.

I was searching on the web for paper dolls and once again I found amazing art works from so different artists and periods. Trying to make a homage to one of my favourite movie stars I'm sharing here some paper dolls we can find on the web.

   Sempre gostei de ver fotos de estrelas de cinema, da golden era  ou da era silver screen, como Marlene Dietrich, Jean Harlow, Hedy Lamar, Mae West e outras vamps. Claro que reparava nas estrelas masculinas como Gary Cooper, Marlon Brando, Rock Hudson e tantos outros que se tornaram modelos para minhas criações.

Portanto, Cary Grant é um caso especial. Porque ele é tão elegante, sofisticado e divertido ao mesmo tempo. Ele é definitivamente o modelo masculino na minha modesta opinião...Quando um entrevistador certa vez lhe disse: "Todo mundo gostaria de ser Cary Grant", ele respondeu: "Eu também gostaria de ser Cary Grant".

E para preencher a minha imaginação e fantasias, como as de tantos outros que o admiravam, há a sessão de fotos com Randolph Scott.

Estava pesquisando na web e mais uma vez encontrei obras de arte incríveis de artistas e épocas tão diferentes. Tentando fazer uma homenagem a uma das minhas estrelas de cinema favoritas, estou compartilhando aqui algumas que podemos encontrar na web. até à próxima!

My favorite paper doll theme is movie stars and celebrities.

I was browsing the internet looking for news on paper dolls when I found these that I share here. These are rarities that are the delight of any collector and unfortunately they are no longer available.

They are three world-famous body builders whose careers went through acting in movies and both were immortalized by the roles they played. Each doll has different clothes from the movies in which they acted.

 O meu tema preferido em paper doll são as estrelas de cinema e as celebridades. Eu estava navegando pela internet à procura de  novidades em paper dolls quando encontrei estas que aqui partilho. São raridades que fazem as delicias de qualquer colecionador e infelizmente já não estão à venda.

São três body builders mundialmente famosos e cuja carreira passou pela representação no cinema e ambos ficaram imortalizados pelos papéis que desempenharam. Espero que gostem. Eu amei!

All the world's waiting for you, and the power you possess

 

This post comes a little late. I couldn't fail to make reference to Lynda Carter, who turned her birthday on July 24th, because she played my favourite superhero, Wonder Woman in the TV series and which in my country was translated as Superwoman. I spun on my heels imagining the transformation I saw in every episode... I made silver bracelets with stars to have super powers and I never tired of jumping and jumping off the walls, wondering how I could jump over the buildings in pursuit of the bad guys.

 I cut out every magazine and newspaper that had a picture of Lynda Carter in Wonder Woman clothes. I've drawn Wonder Woman over and over again. I also had my Wonder Woman paper doll designed by me on cereal box cardboard. It didn't resist the passage of time... But I have another one more recent drawn by me.When I took a look at the web, I found some paper dolls, which unfortunately I don't have in my collection, but which I would like to share with you here.

 Este post vem um pouco atrasado. Eu não podia deixar de fazer referência a Lynda Carter, que fez anos no passado dia 24 de julho, porque interpretou a minha super heroína preferida, a Wonder Woman na serie de televisão e que no meu país se traduziu por Super-mulher. Eu rodopiava nos calcanhares imaginado a transformação que via em todos os episódios... eu fazia braceletes prateadas com estrelas para ter super poderes e não me cansava de dar pulos e saltos de cima dos muros, imaginando como poderia saltar por cima dos prédios em perseguição dos bandidos. Eu recortava todas as revistas e jornais que tivessem uma imagem da Lynda Carter em roupas de Wonder Woman. Eu desenhei vezes sem conta a Wonder Woman. Também tive a minha paper doll da Wonder Woman desenhada por mim em cartão das caixas de cereais. Não resistiu à passagem do tempo... Ao dar uma vista de olhos na web fui encontrando algumas paper doll, que infelizmente não tenho na minha coleção, mas que gostaria de partilhar aqui convosco.

I was about 8 or 9 years old when I first saw images of her. It was the first movie star that captivated me and that I followed over the years ... The most famous blonde in the world of show business. Her image of half-closed eyes and half-open mouth in a flowing white dress has become iconographic. Marilyn Monroe needs no introduction. Many things have already been said, done, seen, written about and the world of paper dolls is no exception.

When browsing the web we will find paper dolls illustrated by many artists with results so diverse that it is impossible to mention them all so I will share with you those that I consider best.

The first paper doll I purchased was from Mr. Tom Tierney published by Dover 1 doll and 31 costumes from twenty-four MM movies. It is very complete but in my opinion it is not his best work on MM.

For example The seven year itch dress which is one of the most well-known costumes worn by MM is very little detailed. Even the facial expression looks more a wannabe look alike. I cant remember where in the internet I found Macky's paper dolls, was the author name on the files, who taking advantage of the paper doll on Tom Tierney's book illustrated some of the outfits that are missing there. Anyway, it is therefore a must have for any  paper doll fan or MM fan.

If compared to DANNY'S BOYS The Female Impersonator Tom Tierney's paper doll, it has a paper doll with a facial and body expression much better illustrated  and the looks are very well detailed including the wigs for each look. Published by B.SHACKMAN COMPANY has two die-cut Paper Dolls and six pages with sixteen Fashionable and gorgeous Outfits.

Another paper doll about MM that I think is very original is illustrated by Ralph Hodgdon who has an incredible work of paper dolls. It is not the most similar paper doll in terms of facial expression but the choice of outfits on the first years of MM's career is very interesting and is not a theme that is much explored. It is welcome by the originality and detailed work!

Another example that deserves attention is illustrated by Marilyn Henry. It reminds me the vintage edition of American Beauties. “There are two dolls and eight clothing pages with 50 fashion items in all! With star biography by fashion expert David Wolfe and photos from the George Zeno collection, this book is treasure for paper doll collectors and fans of Marilyn Monroe!”

We can find other fine examples which deserves our attention by Bruce Patrick Jones, Eileen Rudisill Miller, David Wolfe, Gregg Nystrom, Jeff L Davies, Nancy Stahl, Basia Koening, Rauni Palonen, Cory Jensen, Gabriella Patterson or published like the one in swedish vintage Året Runt Magazine Marilyn-Monroe paper doll and many others.

Eu tinha cerca de 8 ou 9 anos quando vi imagens dela pela primeira vez. Foi talvez a primeira estrela de cinema que me cativou e que acompanhei ao longo dos anos... A loira mais famosa do mundo do show business. Sua imagem de olhos semicerrados e boca semiaberta num vestido branco esvoaçante tornou-se iconográfica. Marilyn Monroe não precisa de apresentações. Muitas coisas já foram ditas, feitas, vistas, escritas e o mundo das paper doll não é exceção. Ao navegar na web, encontraremos paper doll desenhadas por muitos artistas com resultados tão diversos que é impossível mencioná-los, por isso compartilharei com você aqueles que considero melhores. A primeira boneca de papel que comprei foi do Sr. Tom Tierney, publicada pela Dover e tem uma paper doll e trinta e um out fits de vinte e quatro filmes. É muito completo, mas na minha opinião não é o melhor trabalho de Tom tierney sobre MM. Por exemplo, o vestido de "O pecado mora ao lado", que é um dos vestidos mais conhecidos usados ​​por MM, está muito pouco detalhado. Até a expressão facial parece mais uma lookalike. Outro paper doll sobre MM que eu acho muito original é desenhado por Ralph Hodgson, que tem um trabalho incrível de bonecos de papel. Não é a paper doll mais semelhante em termos de expressão facial, mas a escolha de roupas nos primeiros anos da carreira de MM é muito interessante e não é um tema muito explorado. É bem-vindo pela originalidade e pelo trabalho detalhado! Outro exemplo que merece atenção é desenhado por Marilyn Henry. Este trabalho lembra-me a edição vintage de American Beauties. “Existem paper dolls e oito páginas de roupas com cinquenta itens de moda ao todo! Com uma biografia escrita pelo especialista em moda David Wolfe e fotos da coleção George Zeno." Y así pasan los días

Last year I tried to complete the challenge #100daysofpaperdolls but got halfway there. Still I decided to resume my blog sharing the latest outfits I drew for it. The two outfits I share today are inspired by the Pedro Almodóvar's movies Kika (1993) and La mala educacion (2004), despite my favorite being All About My Mother (1999).

These two films bring together the talent of two genius the filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar and fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier (both artists whose work I admire so much).

O ano passado tentei completar o desafio  mas fiquei a meio caminho. Ainda assim decidi ao retomar o meu blog  partilhar os últimos outfits que desenhei. Os dois outfits que aqui partilho são inspirados nos filmes Kika(1993) e La mala educacion (2004), apesar do meu favorito ser Tudo sobre mi madre (1999) do realizador Pedro Almodóvar. Estes dois filmes reúnem o talento de dois génios o cineasta Pedro Almodóvar e o fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier (ambos artistas cujo o trabalho eu admiro muito). Espero que gostem. : ) Mais partilhas vêm a caminho!

Everyone has his taste

 I do not like making ephemeris but I do not become indifferent to the departure of yet another star that has achieved immortality. I'm talking about Burt (Leon) Reynolds (1936-2018) one of the sexiest actors (everyone has his taste!) of the big screen, desired by thousands and envied by so many others.I admire Burt Reynolds, like so many other movie stars, and I will keep forever in my memories the image of the first man who posed naked for a feminine magazine Cosmopolitan' s centrefold in April of 1972 (although he regrets having done it and i don't understand why ?!).

He was also a football player and recorded an album entitled Ask me what I am. 

Made hundreds of movies. For a while he was one of the highest paid Hollywood actors.
He declined the role of James Bond. He won two Golden Globes and, as never before, was nominated for Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance in Boogie Nights (1997) when he played the role of Jack Horner as a porn director ...Reynolds was to be cast as Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019). :,(To remind him I share here two paper dolls that circulate on the web. One I found in Pinterest, by Diana Clark with black and white outline and four iconic outfits from Burt Reynolds' film career.

The other one that I really think is perfect two-in-one, I do not remember where I first saw it, it's from Mr. Tom Tierney's hand, (only could!). It is identified as private stock of the artist and the character's name is  Sam Hanks. He is a movie star look-alike  and has very good resemblance with Burt Reynolds. It captures the sexy smile and masculine moustache on the body of ex-former football player (he's missing that tan) and has just one outfit and cowboy hat! I wish there was an officially published paper doll ...

Is there ever going to be an art book by Mr. Tom Tierney with all this stuff? I wish. :)

Está identificado como stock privado do artista e tem o nome de  Sam Hanks. É um movie star look-alike , muito parecida com Burt Reynolds e que captura o sorriso de mariola e o bigode de masculino no corpo de ex-jogador de futebol americano (falta-lhe apenas aquele tom de pele bronzeada...) e tem apenas uma roupa e um chapéu de cowboy! Eu gostaria que houvesse uma boneca de papel oficialmente publicada ...Haverá algum livro de arte do Sr. Tom Tierney com todas essas coisas? Quem me dera :)
