Pablo the gipsy paper doll

We were in the 40's, before television and video games, when reading was one privileged entertainment of children.

A magazine dedicated to young readers appeared in Portugal which title was Diabrete (meaning: little devil or goblin).
The first issue was published on the 4th of January of 1941. It was published during a decade by the Empresa Nacional de Publicidade (National Advertising Company) and its directors were Artur Urbano de Castro, Adolfo Simões Müller (1909-1989) and Maria Amélia Barça.
The magazine was dedicated to comics and it could be found in its pages stories and adaptations of the world's most famous literary works  signed by notable portuguese artists such as Fernando Bento (1910-1996), Vítor Péon (1923-1991), Fernandes Silva (1931- 2010), José Manuel Soares (1932-), Marcello de Morais, and foreign artists such as Jesus, Adriano and Alejandro Blasco, Frank Godwin, Willy Vandersteen, Hergé, Alex Raymond.

Diabrete's pages featured novels, some mini comic albums, contests, cut-out constructions and paper dolls!

Here I leave to you a paper doll of the gipsy Pablo with three outfits from his shows with which he usually fascinated "with his skills" the readers of the Diabrete.

I'm sure he did! Don't you think? ; )
