Cheers!

Sometimes we can found interesting stuff on the web... this is the case. I decided to search on Google for a better version of these paper dolls. I found a better version but and some information about them:

"Miller[ SABMiller Alcoholic Beverages] has a very long history of gay marketing, starting in San Francisco in the mid-1970s with sponsorship of the leather-oriented Folsom Street Fair and later Pride Parades.

Early ads began in 1979 in New Orleans' Impact magazine and later in the The Blade in Washington DC. National ads began in 1994, including an extension of the mainstream "Life is Good" campaign and this tongue-in-cheek series of paper dolls.

Miller Brewing Co., along with Anheuser-Busch, have the distinction of being among the few companies that advertises in gay media and also have a mainstream media commercial with a gay theme.

Beer companies are well represented in The Commercial Closet, largely due to an effort in the mid-1990s to pull away from the industry's longterm sexist advertising themes that objectified women. Such commercials were summed up by the Swedish Bikini Team ads from Stroh Brewing Co. for Old Milwaukee. Looking for new material to mine, brewers began extensively playing with gay and transgender themes in their advertising. However, because beer drinkers are stereotypically macho, the tone of many of the ads were more negative.

Match point

Mr. Tom Tierney's work never ceases to amaze me.

One of these days I was on the web looking for news about paper dolls and suddenly my eyes were caught by this paper doll by Andre Agassi, a famous tennis player from the late 80's. I can't tell you to much about Andre Agassi. I only remember to see him on the pages of german Bravo magazine, but I couldn't read because I didn't know a word of german. I only bought the magazine because I followed another artist who filled the pages of Bravo.

At that time his haircut was fashion... that's why I noticed him. I was just a teenager who would like a haircut like him!

I can't say to much about it, I only know that it was printed in Tennis magazine in the July 1991 issue, but I'm sure you enjoy it as much as I do.

To the next!

O trabalho do Sr. Tom Tierney nunca pára de me surpreender.

Play with Peter Pan paper dolls and be a child forever

This is another paper doll advertisement that made me dream when I saw it when I was as a child. It was published by Editora Abril comics magazines that came from Brazil. For me it was very special and much wanted because they were paper dolls from Walt Disney characters! See how beautiful they were. I can imagine the afternoons when I was a child that I would have been playing with these Peter Pan paper dolls and company with 18 clothes to wear (no scissors needed) ...

Flávia and Daniela paper dolls

When I was a child from time to time appeared in the comics magazines, that came from Brazil, advertisements of paper toys and paper dolls. I kept wishing that they would also appear on the newsstand of the small village where I was a child. Look at this advertisement with more than thirty years featuring Flávia( a teen girl) and Daniela(a baby) paper dolls from Editora Abril. The artist who designed it was Roberto Marques. The advertisement says that "Flávia has 13 models of dresses and a hairstyle to wear. Daniela has 29 models of clothes and a [wooden] horse to ride."
Nowadays it could make shine the eyes of any collector of paper dolls!
