Calendar boy
David magazine, set.1973. Photo by Eddie Van |
For each month the calendar had a paper doll of the winner of the Mr.Texas contest.
Mr. [Gay] Texas contest according to the magazine TWT:
"There were lots of drag pageants over the years, but this was one for the guys, and was held from roughly 1974 through 1989, covered of course in TWT Magazine."
As far as I could understand, the Mr Texas contest was an annual charity event. All profits were given to the Texas Human Rights Foundation a advocates group. They helped by legal means to prevent anti-LGBT community measures from being used or exercised as an extension of the law.

CJ Harrington was a model, he won different contests including Mr. David in 1973 and Mr.Texas in 1974. He formed the Muscles in action, a male dance company and was responsible for holding fundraising events.
Here we share CJ Harrington's paper doll with the outfit, a pair of cowboy Chaps, he worn in the Mr. Texas contest as Mr. Houston.

Feet, why do I want them, if I have wings to fly
Frida Kahlo An Illustrated Biography by Zena Alkayat and ilustrated by Nina Cosford |
Frida Kahlo (6 July 1907 – 13 July 1954) liked to dress in traditional costumes and pay homage to the different people originating from her country, México.
Her wardrobe includes embroidered shirts, braids wrapped with ribbons wrapped around the top of her head and polleras (large full skirts used in traditional festivities and folklore throughout Latin America).
Many of these costumes, related to the history and traditions of México, made Frida a fashion icon and have already inspired fashion designers and also artists and film directors.
Frida Kahlo's life and the details of her work and personal world are an inspiration to the entire world.
Here I share some paper dolls, that we can find on the internet, as a tribute to this great artist and woman and those who are inspired by her.

There was a boy...
They say he wandered very far
Very far
Over land and sea
And sad of eye
But very wise was he
One magic day he passed my way
And while we spoken of many things
Fools and kings
This he said to me
You'll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved in return...
Nature Boy Song by The King Cole Trio
We have finished celebrating Pride month. To the next!
